10 Days from Casablanca to Merzouga and Marrakech
Day 1 : Arrival in Casablanca
Once we arrive Casablanca after a long travel time, you’ll be greeted by our ground agents, we talk about the trip planning in the next 9 days , the first day usually is free for us to explore by ourselves, then we’ll spend the night in a hotel or riad.
Days 2-3 : Guided tour in Meknes, Volubilis and Fez
It seems a fully attractive trip, as we will spend two days in exploring three fabulous cities, starting from Meknes followed by a guided visit of the Roman ruins of Volubilis, we stay in the the new city of Fez, this city was built by the French during their Protectorate of Morocco, we take a short trip in the city and see all the highlights of the Medina to explore the many artisan’s quarters in it, such as the brass and copper souqs, the wedding souq & the carpenters plus its bakers, butchers & spice sellers.
Days 5 : Merzouga, Sahara desert in Todra Gorge
Today we wake up early to continue our nice journey, starting over the Middle Atlas mountains with its cedar forests and through the ski area of Ifrane into the desert regions, through the vast palm groves of the Ziz Valley and right up to the majestic Saharan sand dunes. You’ll be astonished of the different natures in Morocco which is different in the south from the north, then we spend the night in a comfortable kasbah style desert hotel at the edge of the dunes.
Today we have an optional evening to make a short camel ride into the nearby dunes to watch the setting sun.
This day starts with a morning sunrise excursion in 4×4 to explore dunes of the Sahara desert, and we wrap the turban which is wel known in the desert, the guide have to teach us how to wrap it.
Day 6 : Visit to Dades Gorge and Ouarzazate
We start the day with visiting the Dades Gorge with its unusual natural rock formations and stunning scenery. Then we continue along the “Route of a 1000 Kasbahs” with an included visit to Kasbah Taourit. Then we continue to to Ouarzazate, a former Foreign Legion stronghold after having lunch, there we have an option to visit a Berber herbalist and find out about the traditional medicines and cooking spices of the Berber people.
Days 7-8 : Going to Ait Benhaddou Kasbah and Marrakech
These days started in the village of Aït Benhaddou, and a kasbah, a type of fortress or palace, during this visit we observe this incredible structure in the narrow, winding passageways, we’ll feel as if we were in a magical place, we spend almost time here , then we have to continue to Marrakech through the Tizi n’Tichka pass at 2200m in the High Atlas mountains, on winding mountain roads with breathtaking views over the highest peaks of Morocco.
Day 9 : From Marrakech to Essaouira
The day before leaving, we split from the tour and saying goodbye to our guide, the trip is over, then we have greeted by a private driver who will take us to Essaouira, after one attractive fabulous week.
Day 10 : Marrakech – Airport
The last day in Morocco, make sure to pack all your luggage , then the driver will pick you up from the hotel, and take you to Marrakech airport or Casablanca.
