5 Days Desert Tour from Marrakech to Merzouga – Tour Details

Day 1 : Marrakech – Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate :

In the first day we departs from Marrakech at 8am and travel over the stunning High Atlas Mountains through Tizi n’Tichka (alt 2260 m). Then we visit the Argon oil cooperative and stop there to take photos and enjoy the landscape. We’ll have lunch in a local restaurant, in the afternoon we visit the UNESCO World Heritage site Ait Ben Haddou. Then go to Ouarzazate for dinner and spend our night in a traditional Hotel.

Day 2 : Ouarzazate – Draa Valley – Merzouga :

In the early morning and after having breakfast we visit the Taourirt Kasbah, then travel through the scenic road along the the Djebel Sarhro mountain range, down to the oasis and kasbahs of the Draa valley and along the Draa, Morocco’s largest river on our way to the desert, before we passe through many Berber villages including Agdz and N’kob where we search at a local restaurant in order to have a lunch , after this long morning, arrival is at Merzouga, at night we will go to the Hotel to have the dinner and rest.

Day 3 : Merzouga – Khamlia – Rissani – Erg Chebbi (Night In Nomadic Tent) :

We will devote this day for the desert region, we’ll get to know nomad’s way of life and the amazing changing contrasts of the desert, we then visit the ‘black village’ of Khamlia to see the Gnawa musicians, for lunch we have a traditional Berber pizza in the ancient capital of Rissani, between lunch and the afternoon we visit traditional markets, later on, we go back to the hotel to be prepared for camel riding for almost 90 minutes over the Erg Chebbi desert dunes to the desert camp, then we have a traditional Tagine dinner and delicious mint tea while watching the stars and the rising moon in the amazing desert, finally we spend the night in a traditional nomad tent.

Day 4 : Merzouga – Todra Gorge – Dades Gorge :

Today we shall wake up early in order to see the spectacular sunrise over the dunes of the Sahara then we go back to the Hotel for breakfast and a shower. After breakfast, we travel via Erfoud, behind the High Atlas Mountains on route to the Todra Gorges. And we take a short walks up in the towering Todra Gorges before continuing along the picturesque river valleys towards Dades Gorge. In the afternoon, after lunch we walk in the Dades Gorge. And at night we go back to Hotel and have a dinner before going to sleep there.

Day 5 : Dades Gorge – Telouet – Marrakech :

The last day will start with a walk in the gorge where we gaze at the Dades Valley through El Kelaa Magona and oasis of Skoura then have lunch. After lunch in Ouarzazate we descend the High Atlas Mountains to visit Telouet and the Kasbah el Glaoui. And finally we arrive to Marrakech.
